Instant Employment Verification - What is it & How does it work?

We've partnered with Konfir to revolutionise the way we handle BPSS employment history details. Gone are the days of time-consuming employment history verifications.


What is it and how does it work?


Instant Employment Verification is a method of verifying your candidate’s employment history. Traditionally, your candidate would have to spend a considerable amount of time inputting their employment history, along with the contact details of someone who could verify their employment. This method relied heavily on the employer coming back to us to confirm this employment and this drastically increased the time it took to complete the screening.

With instant employment verification the candidate can simply, add the name of the company they worked for and the dates they were employed. Then, candidates will be taken to Konfir, our data partner, who will securely connect to the candidate’s bank account where a search for the company name would done, along with a search for the dates that payments have been coming in. This information is pulled and a report is generated which will appear on your candidate’s overall screening report.

If we cannot trace the candidate’s employment history through their bank or your candidate has chosen not to connect via their bank, the system will direct the candidate to connect via their employers payroll provider where they will be asked to confirm their home address in order to make the connection.

If we cannot trace the candidate’s employment history through the payroll provider or your candidate has chosen not to connect via to the payroll system, the system will direct the candidate to HMRC where they can log-in or register for a Government Gateway account. Once they have inputted the required details for HMRC to pull their income record, the candidate will be taken back to the secure screening services candidate form.

By partnering with Konfir to conduct instant employment verification we can start to eliminate manual checks, which will reduce the potential for errors and discrepancies that can lead to screening delays.


What does it mean for my candidate’s screening journey?


We have brought in instant employment verification to improve our candidate’s journey with us. We have found that candidates often stall at this section of the screening because they may need to find out the details of employers before submitting the screening form. For some candidates their employment history can be complex, by introducing instant employment verification it takes the pressure off the candidate and speeds up the screening process for you.

We will never share any financial information and will only display the necessary information needed to confirm the candidate’s employment history.
