Work History - Accepted documents

Please see below a list of accepted documents depending on which activity you have selected. Please ensure all documentation clearly shows your name and the date, and, if relevant the company name.


Employment start date options:

  • First/earliest payslip
  • A contract/offer letter 
  • A bank statement showing your name, the company name and the full date
  • Proof of employment history from HMRC personal tax account or app
  • Official correspondence from the employer

Employment end date options:

  • Last/latest payslip
  • A P45
  • A bank statement showing your name, the company name and the full date
  • Proof of employment history from HMRC personal tax account or app
  • Official correspondence from the employer

Self-employment documents:

  • Self-assessments
  • Tax returns
  • Letters from your accountant
  • Bank statements evidencing payment
  • Contracts and invoices with evidence of payment
  • Evidence of tax/earnings from HMRC Online Account or App 

Education documents:

  • Certificates 
  • Transcripts 

Holiday/Travel options:

  • Passport stamps 
  • Booking confirmations 
  • Boarding passes

Unemployment options:

  • Benefit statements 
  • Bank statements e.g. showing DWP payment
  • DWP statement
  • Benefit P45
  • Any other paperwork that would confirm the receipt of financial support

Care Giver options:

  • Benefit statements
  • Bank statements
  • Carers allowance documents
  • Any other paperwork that would confirm the receipt of financial support

Ill Health options:

  • Doctor appointments
  • Doctor's letter
  • Hospital appointments

Maternity Leave

  • MAT B1 Form
  • Maternity Certificate
  • A letter from your doctor or midwife
  • Confirmation from your employer
