How to Opt-out of Instant Employment Verification

We understand that connecting via your bank, payroll provider or via your Government Gateway account can seem like a very new way to confirm a person's employment history, however, we want to reassure you that this method of confirming your employment history is completely safe & secure, and is the quickest and easiest way to complete the screening form. However, if you would prefer not to connect please follow the instructions below:


  1. At first, you will need to scan the QR code to complete the process on your mobile, or select that you would like to continue via desktop. This step must be done first in order to get onto Konfir's site to opt-out of the service
  2. Once you are on Konfir's site the first screen will show a 'next' button, please click on this to go to the next page
  3. After this you will come to a screen that tells you how Konfir uses your data, the list shows what they're doing and what they're not doing. To opt-out you will need to select the 'I'm ready' button to continue
  4. On the next page, click on the 'X' which is located on the right of the screen next to the Secure Screening Services & Konfir logo
  5. Once you have clicked on the 'X' the screen will say 'You still need to verify your employment', from here you can select the 'Exit Konfir' button at the bottom of your screen
  6. Next you will be prompted to provide feedback as to why you are choosing to opt-out of Konfir, please fill this in and click 'Submit'
  7. The next screen will inform you that Secure Screening Services will now continue the reference process, at the bottom of the page select the button that says 'Skip & return to Secure Screening Services'
  8. The screen that appears next will show you that you have not connected to your bank, HMRC or your payroll provider. At the bottom of this page click on the 'submit' button
  9. Lastly, you will find yourself back at the Secure Screening Services form where you can begin adding your employment history manually by selecting 'Add Activity'

In the event you are returned to Secure Screening Services after clicking 'Submit' on step 6, please re-scan the QR Code or follow the link back to Konfir and follow the steps below:

  • You should then see a screen showing you that you have not connected to your bank, HMRC or your payroll provider. At the bottom of this page click on the 'submit' button.
  • The next screen will inform you that Secure Screening Services will now continue the reference process, at the bottom of the page select the button that says 'Skip & return to Secure Screening Services'.
  • You will find yourself back at the Secure Screening Services form where you can begin adding your employment history manually by clicking on the edit button.
