A basic Disclosure Scotland check should be carried out if your candidate will be working in Scotland, even if they do not live in Scotland.

A basic Disclosure Scotland will check for any unspent criminal convictions. Please be aware that the rehabilitation of offenders act differs slightly depending on whether the candidate is going through a basic DBS check or a Disclosure Scotland check.
