FAQ - How does Instant Employment Verification work?

To streamline the process of obtaining references, we have introduced instant employment verification. This improved approach to obtaining employment details means a quicker and smoother process for you. Instant employment verification is a process where you give explicit consent to connect via your bank, HMRC or payroll provider and only the required data is collected.

When you get to the work history section of the online screening form you will be prompted to 'Add Activity', select the relevant option from the dropdown list provided
When you have selected 'Employment' from the list you will be asked to insert your job title, organisation name and the dates you were with the company
When you have finished adding your work history you will be taken to a page that will ask you to connect to our partner Konfir so that your employment can be instantly verified. Either scan the QR code to do this via your mobile device, or insert your mobile number and a link will be sent to you, alternatively click 'continue' to do this via your desktop
Once you have gone through the steps to connect to Konfir you will be asked to select which bank account you are connected to
Follow the instructions to log-in to your bank account. Open banking is a standardised process fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
If a connection between your bank cannot be made or you choose not to connect with your bank, you will be given the option to connect via your payroll provider instead. Your employer will not be notified.
Your employer name, employment dates and your job title will be shared with Konfir so that a connection can be made
If a connection between your payroll provider cannot be made or you choose not to connect, you will be given the option to connect via HMRC. You will be asked to provide your National Insurance Number and date of birth so that your records can be found
Once this process is complete you will be able to return to the online screening form to complete the rest of the form
