GMC Check

A General Medical Council (GMC) check is one that confirms a medical professional's licence, registration status, training and fitness to work.

There are four types of registration this check will search for:

  • Provisional Registration - This allows the candidate to complete a UK approved, First Year Foundation Programme (F1) programme.
  • Full Registration - This is a licence to practice in an unsupervised medical practice in the NHS or UK private practice, or to move on to the second year of the Foundation Programme (F2).
  • Specialist Registration - This enables the candidate to be appointed to any fixed term, honorary or substantive consultant post in the NHS.
  • GP Registration - This allows the candidate to work as a general practitioner (GP) in the UK.

The information this check will gather will enable you to best decide whether this candidate is both fit and suitable for the role or position. It will confirm their identity and qualifications, and raise awareness of any concerns, warnings or restrictions they may have.
