FCA Check

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulates thousands of companies throughout the UK in order to maintain a level of honesty and transparency in those organisations and their markets.

An FCA check therefore determines whether or not the candidate is suitable for a role within an FCA regulated company. These checks confirm a variety of candidate aspects including their education, credit score and criminal record.

To become an 'approved person' at an FCA regulated company, the candidate must meet a certain set of requirements:

  • A ‘fit and proper’ test
  • Compliance with the Statements of Principle
  • Adherence to the Code of Practice
  • Disclose any information that could affect their suitability for FCA screening tests

These checks will ascertain whether a candidate is honest, competent, capable and credible enough to work for your organisation. Especially at financial institutions, these aspects are crucial, and the FCA check enables you to make the most well-informed decision you can.
